About Dan Kioria

Dan Kioria

Writing brings me Joy de Vivre. In particular, writing about technology caters to both my pain points and pleasure points. It keeps me upbeat with new technological advancements and also helps me engage with other technology enthusiasts.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I grew up away from city lights in the savannah grasslands of Nakuru, Kenya, in the 1990s and 2000s. The reflection of the sun's rays from the morning dew on the grass was always a sight to behold. I would be mesmerized by the sunrise every morning as I walked to school. The sunrises there are still mesmerizing.

My rural home is close to Lake Nakuru National Park. It is a protected facility, but boys being boys would always sneak in. I'd heard horror stories about sneaking into such wilderness, so I never dared sneak in like the other boys.

Occasionally, wild animals would wander away from the park and come to the villages, and one would get a chance to see them. Sometimes we'd be warned that there is a carnivore on the loose. Everyone would be wary of walking around alone, even during the day. I always hoped that one day I have enough money to get to go for a Safari.

I have toured a couple of National Parks in Kenya, including the Nairobi National Park. Nairobi National park is nestled right in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya's capital. I have been to Maasai Mara and Lake Victoria as well.

Growing up, I was always a young boy with big dreams. A million thoughts always raced through my mind as I pondered over all the things I wanted to accomplish. I still have a lot I'd want to accomplish.

At school, I loved to read, although books are difficult to come by at the time. I loved to read fiction novels. I still do. I was that guy who'd be so fascinated by a story, that I'd be reading a novel when everyone else was busy revising for exams. I still always passed my exams, just in case you are wondering.

Fast forward and I found myself in University. I attended the South Eastern Kenya University in Kitui, Kenya, between 2013 and 2016. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electronics in 2017. I had picked up a keen interest in technology by then, given that it was a crucial part of my studies.

Like every other young person in the country, I descended upon the Capital in search of a Job. Nice jobs were nowhere to be found. I worked as an electronics salesman for a year and realized I needed to be doing something more fulfilling.

That's where my journey as a writer began. I went online looking for ways I could earn a living as a writer. I started on Upwork and established myself as a writer from there. Over the last couple of years, I've honed my skills and fallen in love with the craft.

I run a blog called Layman's Tech, where I explore tech topics that I find interesting. I've also written for Kwixand Solutions. Kwixand solutions is a Trusted Partner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Solutions based in Vancouver, Canada.

My interest is in tech, but I have written on a wide range of topics in the past couple of years. One of my most interesting engagements is with Fireside Strategic. Fireside Strategic interviews executive coaches and entrepreneurs that do transformational work within organizations to explore how humanity builds better businesses. I listen to the interviews and put down insights from the coaches and entrepreneurs.

This space is dedicated to my work with the Authenticity Institute and Wes Kussmaul the CEO. We discuss and explore internet Security, Insecurity, and AUTHENTICITY. The Authenticity Institute is working to solve the problem of INAUTHENTICITY on the internet.

I haven’t achieved all my boyhood dreams yet, but I’m hopeful writing will lead me to great heights and many exciting adventures.
